Paths and solutions for energy inclusion of Amazonian communities
The Fair/Symposium ENERGIA & COMUNIDADES will promote an important meeting: that of a growing clientele with the market of products and services aimed at the generation of alternative energy – solar, wind and small scale biomass, off grid etc, in isolated and remote systems. It will also influence policy review and prioritization.
In the Amazon, thousands of villages and indigenous, riverside and traditional communities, especially in remote regions and not served by the National Interconnected System (SIN), want to replace diesel generation, which promotes large emissions of greenhouse gases and is expensive, leading to a huge impact on the family budget. The Brazilian government estimates that more than one million people still do not have access to electricity.
The market is promising and the context is inviting. The new sources of financing and the increase of income in these localities create new opportunities for the expansion of the alternative sources of energy and business models associated with them. They strengthen the autonomy of communities, generate income, promote quality of life and sustainable development.

In order to help point out ways and solutions to overcome energy exclusion and dependence on diesel oil in remote areas of the Amazon, a strong group of organized civil society organizations, indigenous organizations, universities and international supporters have come together to hold the Symposium – Energy Solutions for Communities of the Amazon.
